Using Find My to Locate a Lost Device

You may also want to turn off Find My iPhone if you need to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch in iTunes, since the Find My iPhone feature controls Apple’s Activation Lock anti-theft system.

Not only will that remove Find My iPhone and Activation Lock, but it will also serve as a basic defense against accidentally giving away sensitive data and communications with the device. How to turn off Find My iPhone from an iOS device
