Check For Mac Updates
Check for updates and install. Open an Office app such as Word, then on the top menu, click Help Check for Updates. If you don't see Check for Updates, run the latest version of Microsoft AutoUpdate tool, then check for updates again.
Here's how to set the Software Update application to automatically check for updates: From the Apple menu, select System Preferences. Click Software Update. The window shown below appears. Select the Check for updates checkbox. From the Check for updates menu. To check the size of an available app update before you start to download it, do the following: Open the Mac App Store; Go to the “Updates” tab to find the available app software updates; To find the size of an app update, click the small “More” button; See the size of the app update in the little popup window. But it's much easier to simply automate the process and have Software Update notify you when it's found updates. Here's how to set the Software Update application to automatically check for updates. Before macOS Mojave, users could easily check for the app as well as operating system updates by visiting the Mac App Store app. However, in Mojave, Apple has changed that. Now, the Mac App Store’s “Updates” section only shows the app updates and the software updates for the operating system has been relocated.

To use Microsoft AutoUpdate, start an Office application, such as Word, and then choose Help > Check for Updates. The build date is listed in parentheses, in a YYMMDD format, after the version number. The install package is used if you don't have the application already installed, while the update package is used to update an existing installation.
